The Giving Corner: Upcoming fundraisers provide community with opportunity to support the Sanctuary
The summer months provide those of us in the nonprofit development world the opportunity to plan out the upcoming fiscal year of fundraisers, public appearances, donor meetings, stakeholder phone calls, newsletters, annual reports, and more.
This summer is no different for me at Verde Valley Sanctuary!
At the close of fiscal year 2024-25 (June 30), I’m happy to report that Verde Valley Sanctuary raised $383,644 with an impressive 612 gifts, surpassing our fiscal year goal by more than $8,000! Bravo to the Verde Valley community for all that you have done to help us crush our goal by participating in Giving Tuesday, an annual appeal, our Spring Thrifty event, Arizona Gives Day, tax credit and more!
So, what’s next, you might ask? Here are some upcoming fundraisers you should know about:
Silence is Not Golden: Scheduled for Friday-Sunday, Sept. 12-14, Emerson Theatre proudly presents “Silence is Not Golden,” a production written by Anita Yellin Simons designed to raise awareness on domestic violence. The cast is set, and Verde Valley School’s Brady Hall, 3511 Verde Valley School Road in Sedona, will host the three-day event. Friday and Saturday are scheduled for 7 p.m., while Sunday’s matinee is set for 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now, visit VerdeValleySanctuary.org, navigate to the “Events” tab and click on “Silence is Not Golden” to purchase your seats, which start at $40.
Vin de Filles: The fifth and final benefit dinner at Page Springs Cellars is scheduled for Sunday and Monday, Oct. 19-20. Time has yet to be released for the event at 1500 N. Page Springs Road, Cornville. Tickets usually go on sale by August. Watch VerdeValleySanctuary.org under the “Events” tab for more information.
Casino Night: This inaugural event is sure to be fun and exciting for anyone who attends! Set for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Juniper Bar & Grille at Sedona Golf Resort, 35 Ridge Trail Drive, tickets go on sale Sept. 1 at $125 per person. Each ticket includes two free drinks, Hors d’Ouevres, and $250 in funny money to be used for blackjack, poker, roulette and craps tables in this unique fundraiser. Participants will be able to “re-up” throughout the event, while entertainment will be provided by a local deejay. We’ll have a paddle raise, silent auction, and other side games like a Glow in the Dark Putt Contest for a prize, and an opportunity to win a $100 bill in our Box of Fortune. Watch for tickets to go on sale by Sept. 1, visit VerdeValleySanctuary.org and navigate to the “Events” tab to purchase!
Although this is not a fundraiser, our inaugural “Inside the Sanctuary: State of the Cause” webinar event is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3. This 1-hour webinar event gives local community members and stakeholders a chance to meet our new Board president, Pat Jansen, along with the leadership team at Verde Valley Sanctuary. We’ll be recapping fiscal year 2024-25, sharing our vision for the future, and telling a few survivor stories along the way. Register for this webinar by visiting VerdeValleySanctuary.org, navigating to the “Events” tab and clicking “Inside the Sanctuary: State of the Cause.”
Watch for our fall/winter edition of the newsletter as we’ll share photos from our Casino Night, and have information about the upcoming Giving Tuesday event, our annual appeal, and end-of-year tax credit and potential dates for the Spring and Summer Thrifty events at Twice Nice in Sedona and Camp Verde!
